Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of every pet that enters our establishment. We strive to provide positive experiences during the grooming process, and as such, refuse to cause undue stress, pain, or discomfort to an animal to cater factors of vanity.
Please take the time to read the following carefully as it includes our terms of service and a waiver and release of liability, which Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique trusts you will find fair and reasonable.
• Pets are accepted for grooming only if fit and healthy. Grooming that takes place on an elderly or infirm pet will be at the owner's own risk. Grooming may expose pre-existing health/skin conditions for which we cannot be held liable.
• To ensure the safety and comfort of each pet in our care and the safety of its staff, it is critical that you disclose now, and continue to disclose on an ongoing basis, any and all medical, or other conditions, including concerns or behaviours, that may pose a risk of injury or illness to our staff or other dogs in our care that may pose a risk to expose staff or other dogs in our care.
• Services are only provided to pets that are able to be on an appropriate maintenance schedule, as advised by your groomer, at a maximum 8-week schedule. This is to ensure the best possible outcome for a healthy and happy pet.
• Prices are based on regularly maintained pets and do not include additional time for additional services such as overdue, behaviour, dematting, excessive shedding, extra handling, etc.
• Rabies vaccine is to be kept up to date (as required by law) unless otherwise discussed. It is strongly recommended that vaccinations against all infectious conditions be obtained at least 48 hours prior to a grooming appointment due to potential side effects of vaccination.
• We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service at any time, for any reason, and only provide treatment we deem as humane and in the best interest of every animal.
SAFETY AND MEDICAL
• We want to assure you that as educated professionals in the animal care industry, we take precautions to ensure a safe, incident & stress-free grooming process. We impose strict policies and procedures for disinfection protocols, animal handling techniques, continuing education, equipment function/maintenance, client communication, behavior modification, and routine grooming interval schedules, as deemed necessary. These are executed to protect the health, safety & well-being of every animal in our care.
• Despite our best efforts and precautions taken, various medical, behavioral, and physical situations can still arise during grooming. Grooming may expose hidden or undiagnosed medical conditions and exacerbate pre-existing conditions, sometimes necessitating veterinary treatment or intervention.
• Pets that are severely matted, exhibit behavioral issues, or require the assistance of multiple personnel for support may be at risk of experiencing stress or injury during grooming. Even with the utmost care, challenges such as clipper burns, cuts, abrasions, stress reactions, skin irritations, bleeding, aural hematomas, ocular abrasions, corneal ulcers, and cuts may occur, especially when dealing with uncooperative pets.
RESPONSIBILITY TO DISCLOSE
• Owners must inform Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique if their pet(s) have a history of biting, have bitten before, or display aggression toward people, other pets, or specific grooming procedures. If necessary, muzzles or cones may be used, and it's important to note that they carry a potential risk.
• We reserve the right to refuse or cease services for such pets at any time before or during the grooming process. In such cases, a handling fee for aggressive pets may be charged in addition to the regular grooming fee.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY
• In the event of an emergency with my pet, I understand every effort will be made to contact me at the phone number I provide each time I leave my pet for grooming.
In the event that Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique is unable to contact me, I hereby grant legal permission to obtain veterinary treatment as necessary. I agree to cover all costs associated with this treatment and acknowledge that Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique will not be liable for any further monetary implications, past, present, or future, that may arise concerning my pet's care.
MATTED DOG POLICY
• Pets with matted coats will require extra attention. If the matting is minimal and the pet responds well, we may brush them out for an extra fee ($2/minute). If your dog needs to be shaved due to matting and/or the dematting service is 15 minutes and under you will automatically be charged the minimum amount of $15( price may vary for severely matted dogs). If it's going to take longer than 15 min you will be notified. Reeinforcing: If we do not believe we can remove the matts in a timely and humane manner or we feel your pet is in pain, we will not continue the dematting process and your dog will have to be shaved to a length where the matts can be removed. We firmly believe grooming should be an enjoyable experience and will not put your pet through the discomfort of unnecessary dematting. We will notify you before shaving your dog, if permission to shave down is denied; your pet will not get a bath or haircut and must be picked up as is and a cancellation fee will apply.
• There is a greater risk of nicking, scratching, irritating the skin, etc. a matted dog during the grooming process. In addition, the skin may appear red, itchy, and irritated due to the lack of oxygen reaching in and under the mats. Miam’s Pet Grooming and Boutique will not be held responsible for any injury sustained while grooming a matted dog, including any aftereffects. Our Groomers will be happy to demonstrate some effective brushing techniques for matting prevention. Regular brushing at home with proper tools as well as keeping your pet on a regular grooming schedule will help prevent matting.
ALLERGIC REACTION
• We will not be responsible for any allergic reactions resulting from the manufacturer's recommended usage of any products. Pets may experience allergic reaction to grooming products at any time. We strongly recommend a consult with your veterinarian to see if there are allergies and inform Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique now and in the future. You also agree to notify Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique if your Pet ever develops a reaction where it is suspected that it may have occurred from the last grooming session.
EAR PLUCKING
• Ear plucking must be requested at each visit. By requesting this service, you acknowledge the potential side effects, including the possibility of exposing preexisting ear infections and causing irritation. You accept full responsibility for making this request and agree not to hold Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique liable for any reactions that may occur as a result.
PARASITES
• Pets with parasites generally will not be permitted. Please take your pet to a veterinarian for appropriate treatment at least one week prior to the grooming appointment. If fleas are discovered during the grooming session, your pet will be given a flea bath at your expense, ranging from $25-$50 depending on the size and severity of the infestation).
• Please note that a flea bath will effectively eliminate adult fleas on your pet but will not prevent any future fleas or flea eggs from hatching once your pet leaves our premises.
• We will notify you if any ticks are found that are still alive. They will then be photographed and removed for an additional fee of $15.00 for the first tick and $5.00 for each additional one. If ticks are found we strongly suggest you take your dog to be checked by your Vet, even have your pet tested for Lyme disease.
• Please note that parasites are a health hazard to your pets as well as to humans. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a parasite-free environment.
• Clients who knowingly/repeatedly bring pets to our facility with fleas will be denied future services.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
• You agree that Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique and its employees are not veterinarians, and do not have backgrounds in animal medicine and cannot be expected to diagnose or detect illnesses.
• You agree that Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique is not responsible for unknown preexisting conditions of all types, such as but not limited to moles or cysts. So, on occasion, they may be nicked during the grooming session.
• You understand that injuries and accidents can occur whilst handling or grooming your pet. You agree to waive any claim from injuries against Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique and its employees derived from our normal activities. You will also waive all costs from medical or physical problem that may affect my Dog after being groomed by Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique unless the injury was a direct result of proven gross negligence.
CANCELLATION/NO SHOW
• Last-minute cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) are subject to 100% of the grooming fee charge per pet, which must be paid prior to booking your next appointment.
• A "no-show" is defined as the client not being available at the scheduled appointment time and failing to contact the groomer to cancel or reschedule. In the case of a "no-show," we reserve the right to charge 100% of the grooming fee due to the loss of revenue caused by the absence. We kindly request that you make every effort to call and cancel or reschedule, when possible, to avoid such situations.
LATE POLICY
• You agree as a professional courtesy that if you are more then 10 minutes late for your appointment there may be a fee of $2/minute up to 30 minutes. If you are more than 30 minutes late, the appointment will have to be rescheduled and you will still be expected to pay 100% for the services missed before booking a new appointment.
• Your pet must be picked up whitin 15min from the time we have contacted you and/or before our closing time. Failing to do so will result in a late pick-up charge of $2/minute.
PHOTOGRAPHS
• Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique may take photos of your Pet for our records, for company advertising (i.e., website, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). All photos taken become the property of Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
• It is advised to thoroughly look over your pet at pick up. It is at this time, any request for adjustments to your pet's groom will be updated to your pet's file for future appointments.
PAYMENT
• We accept payment in cash, debit, and credit.
• Pricing is subject to change without notice.
By signing below, you acknowledge you have read the agreement, and agree with the terms and will not hold Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique, shareholders, employees, or family, responsible for any accident or injury to my pet(s).
This agreement will remain in effect for the entire period of my grooming association with Miam’s Pet Grooming & Boutique.
